It Must Be Genetic!

As hard as I have tried to turn my son in to a Sooner, the Tigers are winning out at this stage of his life! The other day he would not play ball without having his "Tige" hat on...Todd's hat...he couldn't even see the ball! His Daddy was so proud!

Pumpkin Paintin'

We have not gotten our carving done yet, but we did color on them and stick them with "Mr. Pumpkin Head" pieces! That will entertain a little boy for a least 2-3 minutes! Here are some of our masterpieces!

"Pump" Patch

Today after a horribly stressful OU/TEXAS game, we went to the Pumpkin Patch to get our Pumpkins for Halloween! I guess this has become a short lived tradition as this is the same weekend we went last year. I remember OU lost to Texas last year before we went also. I thought it might cheer me up to go, so we tried it again this year! I hope the losing to Texas part does not become a tradition as well!

We had a great time and got 3 "pumps" as Reed calls them in his one syllable language. The only words that have more than one syllable are "Melmo" aka Elmo and 'Ga-ma' aka Grandma Thompson.

I think Reed's favorite thing at the pumpkin patch was the slide, which I took him down right after we got there and went so fast the first time I slid off the end and landed backside first in a big sandy puddle of water! What a great way to continue the day!

We then played in the hayfort, fed animals, played on the swings and smaller slide, took a barrel ride and then rode with the "tract" out to the "pumps" Reed tried to lift all the "pumps" and only managed to shot put a few before we got a handle on him. He had a great time and so did we...can't wait until Halloween comes!

"Mom Bite Reed"

Our latest adventure at the Hackleman House involved a Norwex party at our friend Robin's house on Monday evening. We went over early to play with Nolan and our favorite babysitter Hannah (I think this might be Reed's first crush! He loves Hannah!) Anyway, about 6:55PM - the party started at 7:00PM, Reed helps himself to Robin's refridgerator! So, I am trying to get him out of there and figure out what he is saying so I bend over to hear him and lift him. He is standing directly in front of me under my chin and he is asking for a Diet Coke...well, like any good mother I said "No, we don't need Diet Coke right now". Well...this caused an IMMEDIATE reaction of jumping and head thrusting backward...straight into my two front teeth! I felt my tooth go into the top of his head and as I turn away and try not to say bad words, I think that his head must really hurt! This reaction was somewhat delayed, as if he couldn't believe it was happening...but yes, he was hurt and bleeding rather profusely all over Robin's kitchen...oh, and screaming! After Randa and I got the blood stopped and Robin gave him a Diet Coke, life was shaky..but livable. We stayed for the rest of the party and finally made it home only for Reed to tell his Dad..."Mom bite Reed!"

The bite proved to be worth it, because he got to sleep with Mom and Dad that night secondary to a very sore head!
